As this year wraps up, my goal is to refocus on the basics that is working in photography. To study and discover more what light--in it's mystery and subtle beauty--can reveal about the subject. In the ever present light, there is life.
I'm thankful to work in a medium that provides such a rich metaphor for what I believe. A photograph is only made possible through light. It records light. But what is so beautiful to me is that there really doesn't need to be much...really, there is always enough light to make a photograph. Film (errrr....memory cards) hold the latent image of the light recorded, and so we reveal the light that is seemingly covered in darkness.

I love this family. From their kind and gentle natures to the boys' infectious energy I just love being around the Stewarts. This is convenient since they're family! Sarah is Seth's sister which makes her boys my boy's cousins. This shoot was a lot of fun and I think the personalities burst through the screen.
The best part about my job is getting to document the changes that naturally happen year after year. What a special thing it is to have these visual markers of the different moments, locations, and events in our lives! Last year, I got to take pictures of the Erickson family. Soon after, they moved to a new house, so it was a lot of fun to take photos in a place that is becoming home for this delightful and loving family. It just goes to show, though somethings change, other things always stay the same. :)
Yes, I may have my very own 8 month old that I can snuggle and squeeze all day, but there is really nothing like holding a newborn. I was so happy to have the chance to take some of Hannah's first pictures while she was still in that moldable/foldable newborn phase. She is so wonderful! I got to see her again today and I could not believe how much she has grown in just a few weeks! She is looking more babyish and less newbornish. I'm so glad these photos serve to preserve, hold, and celebrate a much too fleeting time.
This was such a fun family session; I feel like every single photo taken was "blog-worthy," they're all so cute! We met at the Arapahoe Bend Natural Area and, I'll tell you what, this is a popular spot. There were probably three other photo shoots going on at the same time, but we had a great time, and I love the photographs that were captured. Isn't this little girl a doll?!
