I jumped at the chance to take a picture of Kevin and Shannon's sweet children, especially Madeline who just turned 1! We celebrated with family photos, balloons, and canoes. :) It was a joy to spend time with them and get to know my neighbors even more. Thanks, you guys!

My children (and sometimes, I) don't know how blessed they are to have two sets of doting grandparents who live minutes away. My mom recently asked to have some pictures taken of her and "her boys," and I happily obliged. What treasures, what keepsakes these photos will be as the years pass and the boys grow. They will grow up knowing they were, are, and will forever be held in loving arms.
Mainly just enjoying my baby, watching Daniel Tiger with my toddler, and enjoying life together with my husband. <please don't judge my pre-rain-dry-and-dirty backyard>
The silence is broken. I'm officially back, fresh off of my maternity leave and ready for an amazing summer season of work. In the months that have transpired since my last post, I have gained another wonderful son and have been enjoying him greatly. His name is Augustine. He smiles alot and sleeps good. But enough about me, or us, I am going to ease myself back into this blogging bit by posting some photos from a session two weeks before Gus was born. Gideon is one year old and is the sweetest little brother to Emerson. These boys are unstoppable and way too cute. Enjoy! and a couple with their beautiful mommy
I have been astonished, and, yes, elated by the people, the sessions, the work, the response I've received during this inaugural year of Brooke Forwood Photo. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to my family and friends who have helped spread my name around. AND THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to my clients; you are why I am here. You are the reason I have photos to review at the end of this great year. I feel undeservedly blessed to be able to do this for my career. Now, here's a peek back at the moments that have made this year so great. Here's to more of the same in 2014! :)
I was so excited to take this multigenerational family shoot partially because I was told there was going to be superhero costumes. How much cooler could a shoot get? Well, it certainly got cooler as this shoot also happened to take place during the coldest week of the year. We decided to move part of the session inside. I particularly love the familiarity of a place, the comfort of a home and how photographs can reflect those values. I was very pleased with the results, and, of course, we eventually did venture outside if only for a brief amount of time as it was -5 degrees outside. Here's to a very Merry 3rd day of Christmas!
What a pleasure it was to meet this charming family; so full of life and love, I felt like every instance spent with them was a perfect photo opportunity. We took pictures after a recent snow and the crisp air and glowing evening sun were perfect additions to the warmth that these people provided. Not to mention, their daughter was an absolute joy to photograph; her 8 yr old silliness provided a level of ease in front of the camera which I think shows through in these lovely photos. Thanks, Griffeys!!
I got to take pictures of the Hoskins Family which was definitely a highlight of my Fall season. Fr. Steve is our priest at Christ our Hope Anglican Church--a place he faithfully shepherds, and a place The Forwoods have felt at home at and have committed ourselves to after walking through its [then, gym] doors 3 1/2 years ago. Sarah has blessed me with her friendship for years, and I secretly think she's way too cool, talented, smart, etc. to be my friend, but I thank God we are anyways :) And their 5 children are precious gifts that Seth and I get to watch grow more and more into people God made them to be. I love this family. And I love these pictures of this family. silliness abounds
This past summer, I had the priveledge of meeting these two who brought to life the wonder and excitement of a simple walk along a nature trail. Their natural curiosity and charisma for the world around them was fun to photograph, and I was excited to have the opportunity to take some family pictures of Jayden and Kade along with their lovely parents not too long ago.
We actually revisited the 'ole stomping grounds (nature trail) and I was pleasantly reminded of what a difference light can make on the look of an environment. Our surroundings look different, naturally, in October than they did in July. The sun is in a different position, naturally, now than it was four months ago. I appreciate the camera's ability to capture these subtleties of light and environment so as to always provide a new and differently treasured photograph. I pray these family photos provide just that: a meaningful glimpse of a family as they were at that moment in time. After a family vacation to Branson, MO for lots of "G-rated Vegas" amusement (pictures will soon follow), I am catching up on some work and am remembering this recent family session. The Bodleys have four sweet children whose playful spirits and sweet smiles were a joy to photograph. I was fortunate enough to complete most of the session in the comfort of their own backyard, and I think it made for some one of a kind and personal photos. Enjoy!
