It's funny the way life brings people back into your life. I knew Kari in a "that's the really good soccer player on my sister's soccer team" sort of way when she was probably in sixth grade, so it struck me by the most pleasantest of surprises when I saw an email in my inbox from this very same, but grown up Kari. It's been so much fun to reconnect and get to know Kari in this new stage in her life as well as her fiance, Josh. These two had the idea to take some photos in the snow. Being 35 weeks pregnant, these two were incredibly accommodating to me in constantly "checking in" on how I was doing during this photo shoot. Josh also took us to different locations in the subaru to limit our exposure to the elements. :) I was undeservedly blessed to take this couple's photos and we had a blast in the snow and frigid (!) temperatures, and I think the pictures reflect accurately the kindness, affection, and sweetness of this couple. They are wonderful people. I can't wait to experience the fun and laughs at their September wedding! Then we went inside and Josh's mom made us cider...and offered cookies...and cake. If there is one way to my heart it is through good hospitality and sugar. Also, p.s., isn't Kari's ring the most gorgeous of rings? It is the most incredible heirloom piece of jewelry I think I've ever seen. Way to go, Josh.

I have been astonished, and, yes, elated by the people, the sessions, the work, the response I've received during this inaugural year of Brooke Forwood Photo. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to my family and friends who have helped spread my name around. AND THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to my clients; you are why I am here. You are the reason I have photos to review at the end of this great year. I feel undeservedly blessed to be able to do this for my career. Now, here's a peek back at the moments that have made this year so great. Here's to more of the same in 2014! :)
I was so excited to take this multigenerational family shoot partially because I was told there was going to be superhero costumes. How much cooler could a shoot get? Well, it certainly got cooler as this shoot also happened to take place during the coldest week of the year. We decided to move part of the session inside. I particularly love the familiarity of a place, the comfort of a home and how photographs can reflect those values. I was very pleased with the results, and, of course, we eventually did venture outside if only for a brief amount of time as it was -5 degrees outside. Here's to a very Merry 3rd day of Christmas!
What a pleasure it was to meet this charming family; so full of life and love, I felt like every instance spent with them was a perfect photo opportunity. We took pictures after a recent snow and the crisp air and glowing evening sun were perfect additions to the warmth that these people provided. Not to mention, their daughter was an absolute joy to photograph; her 8 yr old silliness provided a level of ease in front of the camera which I think shows through in these lovely photos. Thanks, Griffeys!!
I got to take pictures of the Hoskins Family which was definitely a highlight of my Fall season. Fr. Steve is our priest at Christ our Hope Anglican Church--a place he faithfully shepherds, and a place The Forwoods have felt at home at and have committed ourselves to after walking through its [then, gym] doors 3 1/2 years ago. Sarah has blessed me with her friendship for years, and I secretly think she's way too cool, talented, smart, etc. to be my friend, but I thank God we are anyways :) And their 5 children are precious gifts that Seth and I get to watch grow more and more into people God made them to be. I love this family. And I love these pictures of this family. silliness abounds
Two of my favorite people are engaged. I got to take some pictures of them at one of the nicest spots on the front range. Here are the results. All my love, you two!
A few weeks ago, I photographed this lovely family. They are just too sweet and their love for each other was undeniable as the kids interacted with each other and as we shared many laughs throughout this beautiful Colorado fall afternoon. I'm so glad to have the Ericksons as friends and pray these photographs show the beauty that their life together gives the world.
Ryan and Karen got engaged and I am so happy to be photographing their engagement and wedding. Being old friends, I am especially excited by how perfectly these two people compliment one another, and I'm so excited for their future together. Cheers, Ryan and Karen--orrrr the most photogenic people alive. :)
In October, Dustin and Jodie began their lives together as husband and wife, and I was honored with the chance to document their big day. Quite simply, these two are made for each other, and their love for each other and their community is inspiring and contagious. What a blessing it was to be a part of that community that day. Much love and blessings to you both!
This past summer, I had the priveledge of meeting these two who brought to life the wonder and excitement of a simple walk along a nature trail. Their natural curiosity and charisma for the world around them was fun to photograph, and I was excited to have the opportunity to take some family pictures of Jayden and Kade along with their lovely parents not too long ago.
We actually revisited the 'ole stomping grounds (nature trail) and I was pleasantly reminded of what a difference light can make on the look of an environment. Our surroundings look different, naturally, in October than they did in July. The sun is in a different position, naturally, now than it was four months ago. I appreciate the camera's ability to capture these subtleties of light and environment so as to always provide a new and differently treasured photograph. I pray these family photos provide just that: a meaningful glimpse of a family as they were at that moment in time. |
